With its seven floors and a gross floor area of 16,600m2 , Magasin X is Sweden's largest wooden office building – right in the centre of Uppsala.

The building was designed by White Arkitekter on behalf of Vasakronan, which is the client. The project was carried out in collaboration with NCC and the wooden frame was delivered by us at Martinsons, which was procured as a turnkey contractor with both design responsibility, manufacturing and installation of the frame.

The frame system is built with glulam in columns and beams and CLT in the floors, elevator shafts and stairs. The building itself has a very clear sustainability mindset where our wooden frame has played a significant role in reducing the climate footprint and contributing to a comfortable indoor environment. In addition to the purely visual impression that wood brings, it also contributes to practical properties such as improved indoor air and more even humidity.

The work started in 2019 and in June 2020, we at Martinsons began to deliver and assemble the wooden frame. The building was ready for occupancy in 2022.
