With its seven floors and a gross floor area of 16,600m2 , Magasin X is Sweden’s largest wooden office building – right in the centre of Uppsala.

The building was designed by White Arkitekter on behalf of the developer Vasakronan. The project was carried out in collaboration with NCC and the wooden frame was delivered by Martinsons. We were procured as a turnkey contractor with responsibility for the design, manufacture and installation of the frame.

The frame system was built with glulam columns and beams, combined with CLT in the floors, lift shafts and stairs. The building has a very clear sustainability profile, and our wooden frame played a significant role in reducing the climate footprint, as well as contributing to a comfortable indoor environment. In addition to the purely visual impression that wood brings, it also brings practical benefits such as improved indoor air and more even humidity levels.

Work started in 2019 and Martinsons began delivery and installation of the wooden frame in June 2020. The building was ready for occupancy in 2022.
