Martinsons has been commissioned to design, deliver and assemble the timber frame for Hitachi Energy's new office in Västerås. This is one of the largest projects Martinsons has ever undertaken, involving 3,800 cubic metres of CLT and 1,650 cubic metres of glulam.
Named Atsumaru, a Japanese word meaning 'to gather', the building will be a place for meetings, collaboration and well-being. Constructed from CLT and glulam, the office building will contribute to reduced climate impact and a pleasant, natural indoor environment.
– We are very proud to contribute our expertise in sustainable timber construction to a project of this size. Working with the client from the initial stages through to completion demonstrates the strength of our offering, says Jonas Lindgren, Key Account Manager at Martinsons.
The architecture was designed by Krook & Tjäder, and PEAB is responsible for the turnkey contract. Hitachi Energy is the developer, and this investment will strengthen their presence in Västerås. The office building forms part of a larger project that also includes a research and development centre and a factory for network automation products. The entire facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
– For us, this project marks another milestone and demonstrates how a modern timber construction can contribute to climate-smart, resource-efficient buildings of the future where sustainability, aesthetics, and functionality are integrated, says Mikael Lindberg, Sales Manager at Martinsons.
