Varberg Station has been named ‘Best New Building’ in the International Award for Wood Architecture 2026, which was decided on 26 February at the International Wood Construction Forum in Paris. The building was designed by OKIDOKI.

‘The award is further proof that Sweden is at the forefront of sustainable construction in wood with world-class architecture,’ says Anna Ryberg Ågren, Director of Swedish Wood.

The International Award for Wood Architecture is presented by the international trade press to highlight outstanding wood architecture and stimulate innovative thinking.

Martinsons supplied glulam and KL wood for the project. Sara Kulturhus has also won the same award in the past:

‘Four years ago, Sara Kulturhus won the same award. We are very proud that another one of our projects has received an international award. Varberg Station is a good example of how wood and modern construction come together in a public environment with high demands on sustainability, architecture and technology,’ says Robert Martinson, Key Account Manager at Martinsons.
