Sustainability

Sustainable

Some might think that concepts such as sustainability and future-proof construction are entirely to do with climate change. But for us at Martinsons, it is about the whole package – from our way of acting and working, through our choice of materials and partners, all the way to the frame systems we ultimately deliver. We believe that we need to focus on sustainability from multiple perspectives. Only then can we truly take on the role of a strong and trustworthy community developer.

Of course, our offer plays a central role in this work.

Taking advantage of the possibilities of wood materials, we are able to offer innovative and cost-effective solutions based entirely on renewable raw materials from sustainable, long-term forestry. Products that bind carbon dioxide throughout their lifetime, without leaving an indelible mark on nature.

But we also attach great importance to the social responsibility we are able to show in the field in which we operate. Both through conscious choices and positions in our everyday lives, as well as in the projects and organisations we support with both knowledge and resources. This is our way of seriously helping to build a future-proof society.

Climate benefits that make a difference

Several independent studies have shown that glulam and CLT frames have a number of advantages when it comes to climate impact. One of the most important arguments in their favour is that carbon dioxide (CO2) is bound in the building throughout its lifespan. But how big an impact do Martinsons’ projects make? We decided to do the maths and look at what we delivered in 2021.

Social responsibility

An important factor in living up to the ambitions for sustainability is the social perspective. Taking the opportunity to contribute to a society where we close the gaps rather than reinforcing them. This is why we are committed to initiatives that make life in our region better. From both a larger and a slightly smaller perspective.

Sustainable forestry

The quality raw material from the forests around us forms the foundation of our business. It is therefore only natural for us to treat the raw material with respect and promote sustainable, long-term forestry from our suppliers. This is why we make sure that the raw materials we use come from forestry that always takes into account biodiversity alongside forest growth and future value.

Future-proof the environment

Many of our customers and partners have high environmental ambitions. But we can only seriously offer smart climate choices if the products and solutions available also deliver on function and financial viability. We are driven by the conviction that through collaboration and goal-oriented knowledge exchange within the industry, we can reverse the climate trend and help to mitigate negative climate impacts.

Sustainability report

At Martinsons, we want to contribute to sustainable social development. We have been doing this since the company was founded almost 100 years ago. And in many ways, that role is even more important today, as the effects of climate change become increasingly apparent. Among other things, it is about counteracting climate change by creating the conditions for increased use of wood from sustainable forests. But it is also about taking social responsibility and implementing initiatives that improve life in our region.

As a result of Holmen’s acquisition of Martinsons in 2020, we will no longer produce our own sustainability report. Instead, we refer readers to the Group’s sustainability report, which is part of the annual report.
